Vigneault said that Malone is healthy and spoke with him about his role saying, "I liked his training camp but I am not quite sure, and I was very honest with him, where he fits in with our team picture right now. We all know that a lot of stuff happens in a season. At this time that is where he is situated and we will see where it goes."
Vigneualt added that Malone said he would rather be with the Rangers than with Hartford.

Adam Rotter: If Malone is okay being the 13th forward, I think that is where he should stay. He will get in at some point but for right now I don't know who would come out for him. Jesper Fast has played well, Lee Stempniak has played well and the Rangers need JT Miller in the middle. I think Malone's shot will come in a few weeks when there is a bigger sample size for the young players to see if they are ready or not.
