Christensen had a nondescript game against the Devils skating with Christian Thomas and Carl Hagelin. Earlier today he skated with those two again. After the game last night, Christensen told Larry Brooks in the NY Post that he knows the position that he is in.
"I know the situation here," Christensen said. "I'm in a battle to get a spot. But I can't obsess about it or put extra pressure on myself.Christensen has one-year left on his deal with a cap hit of $925,000.
With Mats Zuccarello and Wojtek Wolski, his importance in the shootout is down a little bit, even though he is great at it, but there is no spot in the lineup to just hold a possible shootout guy. I really like the idea of him being a healthy scratch because he has the potential to make something happen if he comes into the lineup for someone. He is cheaper to keep than Sean Avery, but I think that Avery has a much better hold on a spot than EC does.
