At Yahoo, Nick Cotsonika spoke with former Rangers center Erik Christensen who is playing in the KHL for Prague.

Christensen said that he took his career to Europe more as a business decision than as a hockey decision. He said that he started to look at playing hockey as a job and for a guy like him, who admittedly has had "some ups but mostly downs" Prague and Europe was the best place for him to go to make a living.

As Cotsonika notes, "here is Christensen, living in Prague, making more money than he did in the NHL, playing a top-six role after being benched and scratched and demoted and traded last season in the NHL. He is among the expatriates taking a different path in a different league on a different continent."

On his career, Christensen said "I've played for some tough coaches. They want you to perform consistently, and when I wasn't doing that, I was an easy guy to bench or scratch. That's just sort of the way it went."

Christensen noted that he feels the larger ice surface and style of player is better suited for his skill set.

Christensen made $925,000 per season over the last two years.

He has 8 goals and 2 assists in 23 games for Prague.

Christensen is teammates with Marcel Hossa and Zdeno Chara in the KHL.
