Jagr was 1 year old at the time.
Jagr was acquired by the Rangers in a January 2004 trade for Anson Carter. He played 31 games for the Rangers that season and scored 15 goals and 14 assists.
In 2005-06, the first season after the lockout, Jagr guaranteed that the Rangers would make the playoffs. That season he played in all 82 games, scored 54 goals, added 69 assists and finished with 123.
In 2005-06, Jagr set the following Ranger records:
- Most points in one season-123
- Most goals in one season-54
- Most power play goals in one season-24
- Most shots on goal in one season- 368
- Most assists by a right wing in one season-69
Jagr had 96 points in 2006-07 and 71 points in 2007-08. In 23 career playoff games, Jagr had 10 goals and 17 assists.
The only current Rangers who played with Jagr are Henrik Lundqvist, Marc Staal, Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi.
On his time with the Rangers, Jagr told Joe Haggerty at CSNNE that he has many fond memories of being a Ranger and loved how the 2005-06 team surprised everyone by making the playoffs.
Adam Rotter: It is frustrating that YouTube was in it's infancy when Jagr was a Ranger as there aren't many clips on there and the ones that are on there are of low quality. They don't represent how dominant Jagr was, especially in his first season, it is still a crime that Jagr was robbed of the Hart Trophy in 2006, and how he and a 23-year old rookie goalie from Sweden carried the Rangers into the playoffs.
