Bob McKenzie reported last night that former Rangers first round pick Manny Malhotra has been cleared to practice for the Canucks after suffering an eye injury near the end of the season.

McKenzie s

ays that no decision has been made towards Malhotra playing and that he needs to prove to the coaches that he can play:

Is the coaching staff comfortable inserting a player who hasn't played an NHL game since mid-March and will be operating with far less than perfect vision in one eye (though above the minimum standards as set out by the NHL with  the help of a specially fitted contact lens)?
The fact that he has gotten this far and potentially close to playing is crazy. I think that Vancouver has a lot going for them already and they should be considered the favorites, so it will be tough for them to just bring Malhotra in, but it could also be a big inspiration for the team.
