Kuzma writes that Arniel, who is under contract for two more seasons with the Canucks organization, could also be a candidate to join John Tortorella's staff in Vancouver.
Arniel coached Rick Nash, John Moore, Derek Dorsett and Derick Brassard in Columbus. He and Brassard had issues at times with Brassard being a healthy scratch.
He was an assistant coach for a few years in Buffalo when Marty Biron and Taylor Pyatt were there and Biron spoke about Arniel on Vancouver radio last week, saying "I played for Scotty and really liked him as an assistant coach. Lindy was able to surround himself with some really good people. I had some of my best years in Buffalo when he was there. I think he is a vest intense guy, I talked with some of the guys who played under him in Columbus, Nash, Brassard and Dorsett, and they said he was really intense and did some great things it was just maybe not the right timing. I have seen what he has done with the Manitoba Moose, how he was able to come with us in Buffalo. He will be a guy on a lot of peoples radar because he will be a good coach for many years."
Arniel played 730 games in the NHL, was an assistant coaches for two seasons in Manitoba of the AHL, spent three seasons as an assistant in Buffalo and then four seaosn as head coach, replacing Alain Vigneault, of the Moose (Vancouver's AHL team). He was head coach in Columbus for one and a half seasons and spent last season as head coach of Chicago in the AHL.
