Botta writes that Gary Bettman still thinks a deal could be made somewhere on Long Island and that Charles Wang is waiting to hear about potential options in Queens or in Suffolk County.
On adding the Islanders to Brooklyn, Nets CEO Brett Yormark said:
"We are interested in bringing NHL hockey to Brooklyn. We feel very strongly about Brooklyn as a hockey market and know we can accommodate it from a building perspective."The Barclays Center only holds 14,500 for hockey and it has been said in the past that the building developers were against a hockey team playing there when the arena was being constructed..
In terms of seating, Botta tweets, "Charles Wang does things differently. Doubt he's worried much about the current U-shaped seat plan for hockey at Barclays."
This was first mentioned as a possibility in 2009.
The Islanders and Devils are playing in the Barclays center in October and the KHL is holding two games there in January.
