He noted that this could have been part of the reason why the Oilers made their coaching announcement on Saturday.
The Stanley Cup Final starts tomorrow and a potential game seven would take place on June 26th.
Glen Sather said that he hoped to have a coach in place by June 30th.

Adam Rotter: John Tortorella was fired 13 days ago, the Stars fired their coach about a month ago and Alain Vigneault was fired in Vancouver on May 22nd. The Rangers have just started to interview people and the entire process could have a wrench thrown in it if Dan Bylsma or Dave Tippett become available. It may end up that the Rangers don't hire a coach until after the Finals end, but they won't sit on their decision just because the NHL doesn't want attention taken away from the Stanley Cup.
