Fast said today (NYR):
- On his season so far, "I thought I had a good preseason. It was disappointing to be sent down but it's how it is an to be ready for the next opportunity."
- "It's my second year here, it's all about development and being the best player that I can and getting better."
- On Hartford, "we have a great group of guys both on and off the ice. Oscar has been playing really good, we just give him the puck and he goes. We have good chemistry and hopefully keep it up."
9:39AM: Alain Vigneault said in early October that Jesper Fast had been consistent in training camp and the preseason and that "when he is on the ice, coaches and management have a lot of trust that he will do the right thing."
Vigneault said that Fast's role will be in the bottom six and as a player who will kill penalties. He adds that Fast has the chance to show he can be a regular NHLer.
Asked about his preseason, Fast said that he thought he played well and some "lucky bounces" helped his confidence. He added that he proved last year that he could play in his own zone and hopes that his added strength and confidence on the ice will help him get to another level. Fast said that at this level everyone has to be strong on the puck. (Ranger Rants)
Fast played in three games before being sent down to Hartford and in 11 games had 1 goal and 8 assists.
