Clowe said that he was open to negotiating to be able to stay with the Rangers.
1:17PM: May 26th: In a chat at ESPN.com, Katie Strang writes that the Rangers coveted Ryane Clowe so heavily at the trade deadline that there was a sense that the Rangers were very interested in re-signing him.
After suffering two undisclosed, though thought to be head, injuries that have limited him to only one full playoff game, Strang says that she can't see how the Rangers will re-sign Clowe in the offseason.
After he was acquired by the Rangers, the belief was that Clowe would stay and that the Rangers and his agents discussed the framework of a potential new contract.
At the trade deadline, Clowe was reportedly looking for an eight-year contract.
