Original Post: At CBC, Elliotte Friedman writes about RFA Shea Weber who had his arbitration hearing yesterday.
Darren Dreger says that Weber asked for $8.5 million while the Predators asked for $4.75 million.
Friedman says that certain people think that this is play by Weber for an eventual move from Nashville.
Weber will not be a UFA until 2014.
This is tough. Weber is arguably the best defenseman in the league, but the Preds need to sign Pekka Rinne and the under rated Ryan Suter next summer. Friedman, and others, think that Nashville needs to make a run at being a contender to prove to Weber that he should stay there for the long term. I am sure glad that the Rangers didn't go to arbitration with any of their players.
Dylan McIlrath has said that he patterns his game after Weber.
