Penn State defenseman Vince Pedrie announced last night that he is leaving college, with two-years of eligibility left, to sign with the Rangers.
He announced the move in a since deleted Instagram post as well as on Facebook, saying that he is "extremely excited to start my professional hockey career with the New York Rangers. I'm extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I can't wait to see what the future holds." (Daily Collegian)
He had 30 points in 39 games for Penn State last season, skating on the top pair as well as on the top PP unit. (Daily Collegian)
Pedrie, 23, was a sophomore and was named to the All-Big Ten First Team this past season.
In his two years at Penn State he had 16 goals and 36 assists in 71 games.
