Rick Nash has goals in consecutive games for the first time since before the Christmas break.
He has 2 goals and 5 shots in the past two games after going 9 games without a goal.
Nash said after his goal in New Jersey and after his goal against the Islanders that he is "here" & "paid" to score goals. (NY Post)
He said that scoring goals is what is expected of him by the team and it's what he expects of himself. Nash said that he takes pride in how he plays defensively and being a complete player but said, "I know why I'm here and that's not it." (NY Post)
Nash said that it "tears" at him and "frustrates" him to "no end" when he isn't scoring or creating offense and again referenced "that's my job. That's why I'm here." (NY Post)
Alain Vigneault praised Nash after the loss to the Islanders and said that he has been one of the Rangers best two-way players lately and has played like the "real power forward like we need him to be."
Derek Stepan said that Nash is a "big part of our offense. We're going to need him to continue to carry the puck like he has the last few games and carry the pace." (Rangers Game Notes)
Adam Rotter: Nash has been the Rangers most complete forward for most of the season and probably deserves about 10 or so more goals than he has. He's been noticeable every time he is on the ice, is using his strength, speed and experience to create chances and is finally being rewarded. He's been playing this way for almost all of the season so it's reasonable to think that he will bring this type of effort and play into the playoffs. Hopefully though he will bring not only this effort into the playoffs but his recent goal scoring as well.
