Scott Arniel was on TSN 1290 on Tuesday and said that he hopes to get a second chance at being a head coach in the NHL.
Arniel coached 1 1/2 seasons in Columbus, going 45-60-18 from 2010 to 2012.
He said that he feels better prepared to be a coach this time around and that he knows the league much better now than he did before taking the Columbus job.
Arniel was last a head coach in 2012-13 with the Canucks affiliate in Chicago, going 37-30-9 and missing the playoffs before taking his current job with the Rangers.
Prior to becoming the head coach of the Blue Jackets, Arniel was 181-106-33 as head coach of the Manitoba Moose in the AHL.
Arniel also said that he watched a lot of the World Championships to watch Brady Skjei, Mats Zuccarello and Derick Brassard.
