Sportsnet's Damien Cox was on Sportsnet 590 this morning and said the following about how the Rangers handled the Keith Yandle situation.
Cox said "With Keith Yandle, what a dumb move by the New York Rangers. They could have dealt him before the playoffs, they knew they couldn't afford to bring him back. They decide to go for it now they get a little bit back but nothing that is going to really, really help them. That team has some major decisions to make."
Pierre McGuire was on TSN1200 this morning and noted that Yandle's brother is a scout for the Panthers and that he thinks Yandle will sign down there.
Adam Rotter: Well in retrospect it certainly seems stupid that the Rangers didn't trade Yandle. Had Ryan McDonagh not gotten hurt and Yandle elevated his game it's possible he would have been traded, but with the way Yandle was playing and the way how things looked ahead it made sense to keep him and go for it. It didn't work out that way and the best case scenario now would be them getting another Carl Hagelin or Jesper Fast with that sixth round pick and hopefully another Ryan Callahan if they get the conditional pick.
