8/7/17 | The Hockey News has released their 2017-18 yearbook and has the Rangers finishing in fourth place in the Metro Division and, again, taking the first Wild Card spot.
They have Tampa Bay finishing as the overall number one seed in the East and hosting the lower seeded Wild Card Carolina in the playoffs.
Because of that the Rangers stay in the Metro bracket for the playoffs and they have the Penguins defeating the Rangers in the first round.
The odds they have for the Rangers winning the Stanley Cup are 24/1.
They ultimately have Pittsburgh winning the Stanley Cup for the third-year in a row and the Pens, Caps and Blue Jackets all finishing ahead of the Rangers.
Adam Rotter: I think this is about where the Rangers will finish in the regular season. I do expect the top-four teams in the Metro to all be closer in terms of points than they were last year, with the Rangers maybe getting to third, but overall I think the top-four in the Metro will remain the same. While I'm not sure there will be an easy road in the playoffs this year, with the expectation that Tampa Bay will be top-notch again, needing to go through the Pens, Caps or Blue Jackets will make for another tough road for the Rangers.
