The lines the Rangers are using at practice this morning include (NYR):
- Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad, Pavel Buchnevich
- Rick Nash, Filip Chytil, Mats Zuccarello
- Michael Grabner, Kevin Hayes, JT Miller
- Jimmy Vesey, David Desharnais, Paul Carey
On defense the Rangers have Ryan McDonagh & Kevin Shattenkirk, Brady Skjei & Brendan Smith, Marc Staal & Anthony DeAngelo.
Andrew Desjardins & Jesper Fast are skating as extras up front and Nick Holden and Steven Kampfer are skating as a fourth defense pair.
Adam Rotter: So the initial lines are a top line that started last season together and performed well until Buchnevich got hurt and a third line that at certain points last season drove the team offensively. There is an 18 year old on the second line, for now, with their two best offensive players and sort of a mish/mosh four line. These are how things are today and on paper it makes for a very interesting group. The defense looks to be as expected but with DeAngelo paired with Staal instead of Nick Holden. This is how things look for now but things could change when the Rangers practice tomorrow, Sunday, Monday and/or Wednesday before the season starts.
