Mika Zibanejad is expected not only to re-join Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich on the Rangers top line but also re-join the Rangers top PP unit with Kevin Shattenkirk.
Alain Vigneault said that having Zibanejad back as part of the PP adds "more dimensions and looks to the PP."
Kevin Shattenkirk said that getting Zibanejad back "instantly" makes the Rangers PP more dangerous and that he will be glad to have his one-timer as an option on the PP. (Newsday)
He said that Zibanejad is a "huge weapon" not only because of how he shoots the puck but because of the calming plays he makes with the puck. (Newsday)
The Rangers were 5 for 27 on the PP while Zibanejad was out, with three of those goals coming in the last two games.
11 of Zibanejad's 22 points this season have come on the PP.
