The Rangers are now in the league mandated five-day bye week that the NHLPA negotiated as part of accepting the All-Star format change to 3 on 3.
The Rangers are completely off this week though players on IR can still skate and be at the training facility.
The Rangers return to practice on Thursday at 4PM since their schedule resumes on 1/13 against the Leafs.
Alain Vigneault said that he and the players are used to regular breaks like the All-Star and Olympic breaks and said that they just need to treat this like an All-Star break.
Leafs coach Mike Babcock said "I think it's 100 per cent wrong for player safety. You've got so many games in such a short period of time and you're jamming in more. To me, the more days rest you can have by not playing back-to-backs and jamming it in the healthier you have a chance to be I believe." (Sportsnet)
