Alain Vigneault said on Wednesday that one of the things that the Rangers are thinking about will be whether to insert Adam Clendening into the lineup.
Vigneault said that it was something he would think about during the team's flight to Winnipeg and added "he is definitely high on our list right now."
He played 14:21 last week in his return to the lineup against Buffalo and took the penalty that led to Jack Eichel's tying goal.
Clendening has been a healthy scratch the past two games.
Adam Rotter: I would put Clendening back in because Kevin Klein still seems off and struggled again last night against the Islanders. Klein provides more physical play which the Rangers need sometimes but Clendening has the ability to work on the PP, get pucks out and up the ice and should get another opportunity.
At the very least, if Klein is playing tomorrow against the Jets then Clendening has to go in against Chicago, his former team. The Rangers can't just use these back to backs as a way to give Antti Raanta a start and Henrik Lundqvist a rest, they need to do the same on defense with Klein and, if his play drops, Dan Girardi.
