Ondrej Pavelec will play for the Rangers tonight in their preseason opener against the Islanders.
Pavelec spoke yesterday and said that it has been "great" working with Benoit Allaire for close for two weeks and that Allaire "knows what he is doing." (NYR)
He said that he hasn't been told he will play a set number of games but said that even if it's 10-15-20 or more he jut wants to be "ready" when he has the chance to play. (NYR)
Asked why he signed with the Rangers, Pavelec responded by saying "it's the Rangers" and cited the history, his love of New York, Benoit Allaire and Henrik Lundqvist. (NYR)
Last week, Alain Vigneault said that that he thinks the Rangers have gotten Pavelec at the "right time" in his career.
He said, "a lot of our internal people and Benny believe that he can be a real good goalie. When he plays we will expect the same thing from him that we got from Cam and Raanta."

Adam Rotter: Pavelec has big shoes to fill as the back up to Henrik but those big shoes were created in part by Benoit Allaire. If Allaire can work his magic with Pavelec then the Rangers will not have any issues in goal. Pavelec is a talented goalie but has been inconsistent at times in his Atlanta/Winnipeg career but this is a fresh start, a new role and hopefully another solid netminder for the Rangers.
