Brady Skjei said after last night's game that both he and Henrik Lundqvist agreed that the win over Philly on Tuesday was the Rangers best "collective defensive game in a long time." (NYR Game Notes)
Skjei said that the Rangers came into the game with a chip on their shoulder and "something to prove" and that they were able to score five goals by "playing good team defense." (NYR Game Notes)
Alain Vigneault said that the Rangers put a big emphasis on defense and that they executed their goal of playing a 200ft game.
Rick Nash said that the Rangers won puck battles and played as a group of five in all areas, adding "It makes such a difference when you are all on the same page and I thought we were tonight." (MSG)
Lundqvist said "we play our best defensive game in a very long time and we score five goals. I don't remember the last time we scored five goals. You start in your own end and take care of business there. Your breakouts are better, your speed and timing are better. We have been talking about it for a while and I think tonight it clicked." (NYR Game Notes)
Jakub Voraceck said that the Rangers blocked a lot of shots and put" five guys in front of the puck and it was tough to get something through." (NYR Game Notes)
He added, "that's a good team. They played well today, they played simple in the beginning. They were chipping every puck in and they weren't making many mistakes. They overloaded in the 'd' zone, and that was hard for us." (NYR Game Notes)
Adam Rotter: Last night the Rangers looked like the team they are supposed to be. They were fast, won battles, got great goaltending and scored in bunches. They got goals from throughout the lineup and in different situations and they won the special teams battle. They have spoken for so long about a need to be better and work harder and all of that and finally backed it up with their performance on Tuesday. Much like the Rangers struggles earlier in the season, one game doesn't fix everything. The Rangers need to build on last night, play with the same kind of effort and pace against Buffalo and that bring that to Colorado, LA, Anaheim and San Jose before the break. They have the ability to string wins together and if they can bring last night's effort with them, they will put themselves in a good position to do that.
