10/20/17 | 12:04PM: Elliotte Friedman said on Calgary radio this morning that the Rangers "kind of fished in around" into things with Duchene but that he doesn't know if there is a fit.(FanRag)
10/19/17 | Darren Dreger reports on TSN that the Rangers have checked in on the status of Matt Duchene.
Dreger said that there is an "endless cycle" around Duchene and that the Rangers are a "classic example of a team that initially was in, then they were out, recently they are back in, just revisiting, but they don't think there is anything even remotely possible." (TSN)
He said that some believe Joe Sakic is mulling some possible trade packages though that was also the case at times over the summer. (TSN)
Duchene is signed for one more season, after this one, with a cap hit of $6 million.
Adam Rotter: Would Duchene be a fit with the Rangers? Absolutely and with how the Rangers have looked down the middle so far this season it's no surprise that they would check back in on where Duchene is. While Duchene would be a fit with the Rangers, I don't think there is a fit in terms how Colorado and the Rangers would match up for a trade.
Any potential trade for Duchene would likely start with Brady Skjei, which is almost certainly a non-starter for the Rangers. Skjei would likely just be the start of what Colorado would likely want, with them probably asking for more young players and/or top prospects.
