Jeff Gorton said on Saturday that the Rangers have been speaking with Jesper Fast for a while about a new contract and that he hopes something will be done "rather soon."
Gorton said that Fast has been a "good Ranger and I hope we will get it done soon."
Fast, 25, is an RFA and had a cap hit the past two seasons of $950,000.
Adam Rotter: I would imagine that the Rangers will get Fast signed for like a three-year deal between $1.5 million and $2 million per season. Fast is an important player for the Rangers and one of Alain Vigneault's most trusted players. They dodged a bit of a bullet with Vegas not picking him and now the Rangers will likely reward Fast with a multi-year deal.
