Alain Vigneault spoke yesterday about the suspension to Cody Eakin as well as how the players on the ice responded to the hit on Thursday.
Vigneault detailed the history of the NHL and how past eras would deal with an issue like Eakins hit on Lundqvist.
Specifically about that hit, Vigneault said "that play there we had a couple of guys who saw the incidents but the player was skating away real fast and the two young kids that were on the ice that saw the incident, that was probably one of the first times that they had seen that."
He added, "it's important for a team to stick up for one another in certain situations. I think that one there caught everyone by surprise.
Rick Nash said in the second period of Saturday's game that the game was "feisty" and that "we are trying to stick up for each other a lot...obviously after last game we know that we have to be a bit better in that position." (MSG)
