The salary cap for this season was set at $75 million.
If the salary cap to remain at $75 million the Rangers would currently have just under $25 million in cap space.
The Rangers slated to be UFA's on July 1 include Paul Carey, Cody McLeod, Ryan Sproul
The Rangers slated to be RFAs on July 1 include Ryan Spooner, Kevin Hayes, Jimmy Vesey, Vlad Namestnikov, Rob O'Gara, John Gilmour and Brady Skjei.
All of the RFAs above are arbitration eligible.
Boo Nieves, Chris Bigras, Adam Tambellini and Steven Fogarty are players in Hartford that are RFAs on July 1.
Adding Brendan Smith puts the Rangers at just over $22 million in cap space.
Adam Rotter: The Rangers should be in the neighborhood of $25 million of cap space on July 1. That gives the Rangers a ton of flexibility to either sign UFAs, acquire new players to move forward with and even take on a bad contract or two if it brings them something valuable along with it. They still need to re-sign Hayes, Skjei and Vesey, and make decisions on Spooner and Namestnikov, but the Ranges should have a lot of space to make themselves better now and for the future.
