6/16/17 | The NHLPA is voting on a salary cap of $75 million
LeBrun says that once the vote is completed the league will be able to announce the upper limit for next season.
A salary cap of $75 million, would give the Rangers about $16.2 million in cap space.
Adam Rotter: $16 million in cap space for the Rangers is a nice number, and they will get possibly up to $1.65 million more if Vegas takes Nick Holden. The likely removal of Kevin Klein's cap hit certainly was a big boost for the Rangers and their cap space, they save some money from Dan Girardi's buyout and could get even more depending on whatever other moves they make. The current amount of cap space though seems like more than enough to re-sign Brendan Smith and give Mika Zibanejad a new contract. There is probably enough money there to also go down the road with Kevin Shattenkirk if that is what the Rangers want to do.
