3:31PM: Alain Vigneault met with the media following today's practice and said (NYR):
- "right now, the four guys who weren't on the ice are all day to day. They have all been playing through certain bumps and bruises so we can give them a couple of days here. I'm not exactly sure how things will unfold but they are day to day and what you saw as far as lines is what you will see tomorrow. Just have a few things I need to sort out with our D pairings."
- On resting guys, "I would say a combination of both, of a few things, certain guys....our standings, our position, we can't change, we are where we are and we know who we are going to play. A couple of guys that haven't played a lot, I can give an opportunity to give a little ice time. We all know that in playoff hockey different things can happen so this might help us down the road. There are a few guys with some minor bumps and bruises, no one that will not be able to start the playoffs but it is an opportunity for us to heal those bumps and bruises and with those things being said, you also want to go in playing good hockey and playing the right way. We will try and manage all of those things at the same time and go out tomorrow in Washington and play a good game."
- "that is what we will shoot for tomorrow, the best team in the NHL and we will have to play that 200ft game, we will have to defend real well and manage the puck, we need to manage the puck well to not create those transition, especially against a team like Washington that can come out and hurt you."
- On the end of the year being about finishing strong, finishing smart and finishing healthy, "you probably put it better than I did (laugh) but that is exactly it. You want to go into the playoffs and feel good about yourself and your game and your health and that is what we will try and do."
