Alain Vigneault met with the media on MSG following the loss to the Leafs and said:
- On the game, "hockey is a game of mistakes and there weren't a lot of opportunities on both sides in the first two periods but for the looks that they got, they made us pay and we weren't able to make them pay for any of the looks. At the end of the day that sort of sums it up pretty easily."
- Why was the team "scared" to make plays, "sometimes after games, players mis-say what they really want to say. I'm not sure that whoever told you that, that is his intention. There were definitely some plays that we needed to make, whether it be on their first goal, when we didn't handle the puck twice like we should have or on the second goal when we didn't check the way we can with the structure we were supposed to have. That has nothing to do with being scared, just not making the plays. At the end of the day, there weren't a lot of looks, especially in the first two periods from both teams, but they were able to capitalize."
- "we had two really good practices prior to this, we should have been better than this."
- On Buchnevich, "in the second period he took an elbow to the jaw so they took him out. I haven't asked."
