Alain Vigneault met with the media on MSG following the Rangers win over Boston on Thursday:
- On the game, "in the first period we didn't execute at all, we had a hard time making a 10ft pass. After the first we had to regroup, we had to address a few issues and we got a little better in the second and spent some offensive zone time. Didn't get a lot for it, they did a good job of blocking shots and getting in lanes. In the third we had some early chances that we buried and then we grinded it out and the goalie made some big saves and found a way to win."
- On Brendan Smith, "he played a good game. Coming in and playing against their top line, I thought he did a good job and the more he gets used to his new teammates I am sure the better he will be."
- On Buchnevich, "we were told that he was Hartford's best player last night. He came in and played a strong game. That was a great shot on his goal, it gave us the 1-0 lead. I had him out towards the end and he made some board plays, I am happy with how he bounced back tonight."
- On Lindberg's goal, "it was a highly skilled play and we hadn't made a lot till then so it caught my attention."
