In recent years, rumors swirling around the Rangers moving players at the NHL trade deadline was common. However, head coach David Quinn doesn't get that feel at the moment.
"It's a definite different feel than it was last year at this time," he told reporters on Wednesday. "I think you could feel it more and there was a lot of anticipation and there was a lot of certainty that guys could be moved, at least within in the locker room and it affected us. We don't feel that now."
The Rangers made a minor trade on Tuesday, acquiring F Julien Gauthier from the Hurricanes for D Joey Keane. But that didn't impact the big club.
Instead, players are mostly going about their normal routines with practice and games, and not paying too much attention to their name in the rumor mill.
"I think they understand it," Quinn said when talking about the business side of things. "I don't think there's anything to say."
