Alain Vigneault met with the media following practice today and said (NYR):
- Update on Zibanejad, "Mika is here today riding the bike. I can't tell you exactly where he is in the protocol but he is following the protocol and today rode the bike. It's day by day how he feels. He was smiling though."
- On the road trip, "you just look at the standings, you don't want to look too far ahead but these next three games are against teams we are battling with head to head. Should be another great game tomorrow against Pittsburgh. The goalie that replaced Murray has been playing really well, I think he has played 6 in a row and is 4-2, his goals against is below 2. Young guy stepping in and it's a young guy that has been given an opportunity and he is making the best of it and it will add to our challenge for tomorrow."
- On playing Pitt and Washington, "other than the fact that we know how good they are and that if we are not on top of our game in all facets, both defensively and offensively they can make us look real bad. We will have to be ready and prepared to execute and compete real hard. There is no doubt, and I've said this many times, you can't stop Crosby or Malkin or Kessel. They will get looks and you just hope that the looks they get are from a decent situation a decent place. You work real hard and hope you earn your looks offensively too."
- On Pavelec, "Hank is playing tomorrow and starting on the weekend it's 6 in 9 so he is definitely going to play. Where in the 6 in 9 I am not sure yet. I would say that he will play at least two, that is what I am planning in my mind."
