Antti Raanta spoke after the game tonight and said (Rangers Game Notes):
On whether the team felt confident going into the third period…"I think we played a good first period. They got their goal from their only chance in the first period. Second period, they got their goal on their only chance. I feel like in the second period we didn't get the pucks deep enough. We started to lose the pucks in the middle, so they got the speed for their guys and they were spending a lot more time in our end. In the third period, I don't know what happened there but they got a 3-on-2 opportunity and the guy was just throwing the puck to the net. A guy had an open stick there and just redirected that. Tough way to lose. Not too many shots for me. You let three goals in - you know on all those three goals you can do something a little bit different. I was feeling that we had the keys to win this game, but we just couldn't use those. So I don't know what happened there."
On whether there was anything about this game that stood out to him…"Well, they didn't shoot at all, so kind of weird game. Kind of a tough game for a goalie to play. Sometimes the games are like this. Sometimes you get 50 shots, sometimes you get 20. I still feel that we played good enough in the first period, so if we just could have kept going like that we could have won this game. We started to lose the pucks in the neutral zone and if you give time and space to those guys they're going to use it. It's a tough loss for sure."
