Pavel Buchnevich has 11 goals and 12 assists this season in 31 games after only putting up 8 goals and 12 assists in 41 games last season.
Chris Kreider said that Buchnevich has "woven himself into the fabric of the team" and has never stopped learning on or off the ice. (SI)
Henrik Lundqvist said that Buchnevich is "more comfortably, more confident, physically stronger on the puck and more determined" this season. (SI)
Buchnevich has 3 goals and 5 assists in the past 13 games after a stretch of 12 points in 12 games.
Alain Vigneault said earlier this week that Buchnevich's 200ft game is getting better, his understanding of the game is getting better that he is he is proving that he belongs in this league, can be an effective player and make an impact."
Vigneault said on 11/24, "there is definitely the experience and maturity but I do think a big part of him being more effective is that he is stronger in his puck battles. He is more competitive one on one and that is big part of the game." (NYR)
Buchnevich's host family in Connecticut said that he is now a lot happier, a lot more comfortable and now has a "home base." (SI)
Adam Rotter: It's the same story with Buchnevich since training camp, that he looks way more comfortable and confident on the ice, but it's still impressive to see. He has good chemistry with Chris Kreider and while he isn't at the point per game pace he was a few weeks ago, he's still creating offense and making an impact. He's pretty much been as advertised and without getting too far ahead, because the Rangers are still in the present and not just looking to the future, the progress he has made so far indicates that there could be a lot more to come.
