- The Rangers originally had the 26th pick but traded up to 22 and sent 26 and 47 to Ottawa for 22.
Heading into Saturday's Day 2, the Rangers have the following picks:
- Second Round: 39
- Third Round: 70, 88
- Fourth Round: 101
- Fifth Round: 132
- Sixth Round: 163
Adam Rotter: I, like others, expected some more fireworks in the first round and certainly more than the small draft pick trades that were made. The Rangers moved up to get a guy in K'Andre Miller that they did not think would be there at 26. They went for some players with real high end potential and they will probably look to do the same with their picks today. Day 2, in the past, has also been a day where the Rangers have made trades but the feeling seems to be that Ilya Kovalchuk and John Tavares are holding up the market. If Kovalchuk agrees to terms with a team and Tavares makes his decision on whether to enter the free agent talking period or stay with the Isles, a bunch of teams could start making moves. Outside of Kevin Hayes I'm not sure the Rangers would have anyone in the first group of potential trades but they have a few different players who could be looked at as fallback options if teams miss out on others.
