One of the other seats reserved for the Rangers was reportedly for a member of Madison Square Garden. (Hornby)
Sather was around and involved with the Legends Classic game earlier this week, which also featured former Rangers including Mark Messier, Marty St. Louis and Brad Richards.
The NHL has also been celebrating their 100th anniversary this week as well as conducting the GM meetings in Montreal.
Adam Rotter: My guess is that this week has been full of events and functions in Toronto related to both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the NHL100 and that Sather was still in town and took in the game. He certainly doesn't have to travel to Toronto to watch the Devils, not that the Rangers and Devils would make a move, but the Leafs are an interesting team and want to upgrade on defense. Tyler Bozak is a UFA at the end of the year and someone that the Rangers have been linked to Bozak in the past but I don't know if there is a fit in terms of a trade. While Sather isn't the GM of the Rangers anymore it's still a big deal when, for whatever reason, he is on the road and watching other teams.
