Reggie Evans

Keith Bogans is ready to take Reggie Evans to task on some ribbing Evans dished out during the preseason.

According to Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston, Bogans said Evans sent him lemons before the Nets and Celtics met in the preseason?to give him a playful message:

"When the Nets visited Boston for the teams' preseason finale in October, Evans found a couple of lemons in the visiting locker room at TD Garden. He grabbed a marker and had teammates autograph them before having a ball boy deliver them across the hall to Bogans and [MarShon] Brooks.?The insinuation: Life handed them lemons, so enjoy the sour taste of losing."

So the Brooklyn Nets acquired two Hall of Famers to team up with three superstars to form easily one of the best ? if not the best ? starting five in the NBA.

The blockbuster trade sending Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to the Nets from the Boston Celtics is official, meaning the Nets starting lineup will feature a combined 35 All-Star appearances and be worth $82 million.

Last season, one of the Nets? strengths was the team?s depth. The team received significant contributions from the ?Bench Mob? including Andray Blatche, C.J. Watson, Keith Bogans and at times Jerry Stackhouse.

Brooklyn's Barclays Center is set to host the 2013 NBA Draft, so mark your calendars for Thursday, June 27. But for the Nets, the draft is especially significant because of the team's payroll situation. The Nets won't have much wiggle room in terms of signing free agents, so nailing draft picks over the next few years will be the best way for this team to continue to improve.

On Tuesday night, the Nets defeated the Philadelphia 76ers by a final score of 104-83.

The Skinny: Reggie Evans and Brook Lopez absolutely dominated the paint in the opening minutes, with the Nets scoring 22 of their first 25 points in the paint. Lopez finished the first quarter with 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, while Evans had a double-double after the opening frame with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Brooklyn ended the first quarter on an 11-1 run and opened a 13-point lead.

The 76ers opened the second quarter on a 13-5 run to cut into the Nets? lead, with Dorell Wright knocking down outside shots. Joe Johnson responded with a few timely buckets, and the Nets? starters all returned to orchestrate a 14-3 run to close out the first half with an 18-point lead.

Tonight at 9 p.m., the Nets looked to keep their road hot streak alive in Denver against the Nuggets.

Brooklyn is now 4-1 on its current road trip, which set the franchise record for the most wins on a road trip of at least seven games. The team has averaged 108.0 points per game in the trip ? 12.8 points above its season road average.

The Nuggets have defeated the Nets in five straight contests at the Pepsi Center by an average of 13.2 points per game.

With two games left in the month of March, Reggie Evans is likely hoping that this month never ends.

Evans has been on a torrid offensive pace this month, highlighted by his first career 20-plus-point, 20-plus-rebound game of his career.

Normally, the Nets don?t need Evans to score many points, since Brook Lopez, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson really take care of that. But with Johnson sidelined, Evans has been a consistent source of offense.

On Wednesday night, the Nets defeated the Portland Trail Blazers by a final score of 111-93.

The Skinny: The Nets came out with great energy ? especially Reggie Evans who had six points and six rebounds (three offensive) in the first five minutes as part of a 16-2 Nets? run. Brook Lopez was dominant in the paint, scoring 11 points in the quarter to help Brooklyn open a 20-point lead after one. Evans finished one point shy of a double-double in the opening frame after tallying nine points and 10 rebounds. Evans himself had seven more boards in the first quarter than the entire Portland team (three).

Andray Blatche started the second quarter on a 7-0 run all by himself to increase the Nets? lead to 27. The Trail Blazers finally gained some confidence at the offensive end, with LaMarcus Aldridge heating up. But that effort made little dent into Brooklyn?s big lead, which was 23 at the break.

Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Nets look to win two straight as they?ll host the Washington Wizards at Barclays Center.

Brooklyn is coming off a big win on the road against the Charlotte Bobcats, but the team has lost three consecutive games on its home floor.

The Wizards have played better since the return of point guard John Wall, but the team is still the worst in the NBA on the road at 5-23.

Simply put, Reggie Evans is a rebounding machine. Evans is an undrafted player out of Iowa that has had to scrap and claw his way into and around the NBA.? His game and mindset is simple - stay in the paint and rebound the ball.

The problem with Evans is that he is a liability on offense and it is hurting the Nets with him in the starting lineup and getting extended minutes. ?On the offensive end, the Nets are playing 5-on-4 at times with Evans on the floor.

Evans knows this is becoming a problem and is looking to change.

On Wednesday night, the Nets defeated the Detroit Pistons by a final score of 93-90.

The Skinny: Brooklyn started where they left off from Tuesday night, scoring only nine points in the first six minutes. The Pistons went on a 12-3 run to open a 10-point lead, as the Nets were ice cold from the field. Reggie Evans and Keith Bogans started picking up the offensive pace, as a 14-5 Nets? run cut the Detroit lead to one after one.

Andray Blatche gave the Nets the lead to start the second quarter, but the Pistons followed with a 10-0 run to open a nine-point lead as Brooklyn went four minutes without a bucket. The Nets though began chipping into the lead with a 7-0 run to close the half. Joe Johnson was incredibly cold to start the game, but a three-pointer in the final minute of the half allowed the Nets to get within six at the break.

Reggie Evans made headlines last night and it wasn't with his play, but for his mouth.? Evans made comments about the Heat winning a championship in a lockout-shortened season and also about LeBron James being "just another player" that could be defended like Joe Johnson or Andray Blatche.

Those comments made quite a stir at Barclays Center last night and they prompted James to take to Twitter and quote Jay-Z lyrics which were intended for Evans.

NEW YORK ? The Brooklyn Nets were flying high only a couple of weeks ago, having defeated the New York Knicks at Barclays Center in the first ever "Battle of the Boroughs."

At 9-4, the Nets had the same record as the Knicks but were technically in first place in the Atlantic Division by virtue of the tiebreaker.

NEW YORK ? After seeing the Brooklyn Nets drop their fifth home game in their last six attempts last night to the Utah Jazz, who came into the game with a 4-10 road record, I was curious as to how the game unfolded from the very last play to the beginning of the third quarter, when the Nets held a 13-point lead.

With just over one fourth of the 2012-2013 NBA season complete, the Brooklyn Nets sit at 13-10 ? good enough for second place in the Atlantic Division and fifth place overall in the Eastern Conference.

Not bad for a team that owned a 58-172 record the previous three seasons.

Tonight, at 7:00 P.M., the Brooklyn Nets will battle the crosstown-rival New York Knicks at Barclays Center.

The Nets, losers of four straight games, won the previous matchup 96-89 in overtime, but Brook Lopez has been ruled out. Lopez was instrumental in the first matchup, and after initially being deemed a game-time decision tonight, he's officially been ruled out.

The Knicks, meanwhile, are off to their best start since the 1995-1996 season and are 10 games over .500 for the first time since April 2001.

This past summer, the NBA made news when it announced that it would fine repeat offenders for "flopping," but still,?players will continue to do what they can do to get calls from referees. This is simply part of the game and has been called "gamesmanship" for years in all sports. But today, the NBA powers that be will not tolerate it anymore. The fines are coming so players will have to think a little bit more about the urge to deceive the refs and "flop."

(Hello, Reggie Evans)
