The Rangers and Chris Kreider are reportedly in "ongoing negotiations" regarding a 4 or 5 year deal that would avoid arbitration. (NY Post)
The Rangers are believed to be offering "in the neighborhood" of $4.75 million per season while Kreider is asking for $5.25 million per season. (NY Post)
A four-year deal would buy out Kreider's first two-years as a UFA while a five-year deal would buy out his first three-years as a UFA. (NY Post)
Adam Rotter: I think that anything at $5 million or under is fair for Kreider if the Rangers are buying out UFA years. Presumably he will continue to improve in the way that Derick Brassard did after he signed his five-year deal worth $25 million. I still think that it's either long-term deal or trade for Kreider as a one-year deal doesn't entirely make sense as it just leads to doing this whole thing again next summer.
