Penn State's Saquon Barkley ran for 195 yards, 16 on a fourth-quarter touchdown run. Akeel Lynch got 75 of his 120 rushing yards on a second-quarter TD. It was the Nittany Lions' third score of the quarter as they took a 21-0 halftime lead.
Rutgers (1-2) was 5-for-15 on third down, punted eight times, and only got as far as the Penn State 31 through the first three quarters.
The Knights got on the board on Kyle Federico's 34-yard field goal with 10:35 to play.
The Scarlet Knights host Kansas (0-2) of the Big 12 next Saturday at noon. The Jayhawks were off this week.
