Rutgers linebacker Izaia Bullock was arrested on Tuesday after authorities discovered he was allegedly involved in a plot to kill two family members of a friend's family, according to NJ.com.
The 22-year-old junior was charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder and two counts of first-degree conspiracy to commit murder.
Bullock was dismissed from the team on Tuesday and his player page on the university's athletic site has been deleted.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey and Rutgers Police Chief Kenneth Cop announced Bullock's arrest in a news statement Tuesday evening, which said the charges came after determining on Monday that "Bullock initiated a plot to murder the family members of an acquaintance."
The targets are not affiliated with Rutgers and are safe, per the prosecutor's spokeswoman.
