Rutgers WR Ahmir Mitchell was dismissed from the team after violating team rules, per NJ.com's Ryan Dunleavy.
It was not specified what team rule Mitchell broke, but he never got on the field as a Scarlet Knight.
Mitchell transferred from Michigan in September 2016 after he was suspended from the team. Head coach Chris Ash gave Mitchell a second chance, and even recruited his brother, Damon, from Arkansas to act as a role model for his younger brother.
Due to NCAA transfer rules, Mitchell had to sit out the entire 2016-17 season, but he got off to a hot start in spring camp this year. He was listed as a starter on the depth chart. However, he would tear his ACL a week into camp, and hasn't seen the field since.
On Thursday, Ash was asked about Mitchell's progress, but his answer proved he was no longer involved with the Scarlet Knights.
"He is no longer on schedule," Ash said. "Not anymore."
If Mitchell resurfaces, he has used his redshirt while serving one year of eligibility as well.
