10/26 | Alain Vigneault was asked on Wednesday about McDonagh and his ice time and said, "I know that our record is real good when he plays 25 minutes or more. I think that if you look at the 82 game schedule and how condensed it is in certain areas, I think that is a lot of minutes for any defenseman in this league. I would probably like to keep him around that 23-24 minute but he is a guy who can log tons. He is just a horse and loves to play, great skater, guys who skate well can probably play a lot of minutes and he is one of those guys that can do that. I think a lot of it depends on the game itself. Are we ahead, are we behind and pushing? He is one of our offensive defensemen so there is a good chance he is going to be out there every other shift in that situation. Every game is different but to answer your question, can he log those minutes? Yes he can and our record is real good when he does log huge minutes."
10/25 | This season Ryan McDonagh has 5 assists (3 even strength, 2 PP) in 6 games, 11 shots on goal with 6 hits and 12 blocked shots in 25:16 per game.
Alain Vigneault said before the Rangers played the Red Wings "he has definitely played well. He has logged a lot of minutes and he has been both very good defensively and offensively and skating well."
