Even though the season is over for the Giants, the game must still be played, and this week, Big Blue will look to play spoiler as they face the Detroit Lions who are still battling for the top spot in the NFC North.

With an offense that includes the combination of Matthew Stafford, superstar Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush, the Giants defense is going to have to prepared to avoid another blowout. It might not be so much about the preparation for Detroit's high-powered offense?that has?talent at every offensive position, but the effort that the defense puts in, knowing that they are playing for nothing other than attempting to salvage what is left of the team's reputation.

In my opinion, the Giants best player on the team so far, comes from the safeties unit. Antrel Rolle has been one of the game's premier defensive players this year and has held down the Giants backfield each and every week. Rolle has been the voice of the team for many weeks and has attempted to do his best to instill confidence in his team and reassure the fans that the team will turn their season around. Even more importantly, his play on the field and ability to adapt to different defensive formations has showcased his value to Big Blue's defense.

"Antrel is everywhere. He has played corner, he?s played strong safety, he?s played free safety, he?s played nickel and he?s done that from day one since he arrived and it?s no different this year," said safeties coach David Merritt. "That young man studies more than any safety I have in the sense that he comes to me all the time and he?s asking about certain plays and we sit and we chat about the plays that he asks about and it?s tremendous to have a kid that way."

The Giants "have just put their toe in the water again" for Charles Woodson, the veteran defensive back agent's tells ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Two days ago, Woodson left his visit with Denver without receiving a contract offer, but the two sides reportedly remained in contact.

In addition to the Broncos, Woodson, 36, has visited with the Raiders, the only team known to have made an offer to the free agent.

Who is Ryan Mundy? The Steelers found out, sometimes the hard way. He is an average player the Giants think they can get something more out of. Hey, we haven't seen the guy play yet in a Giant jersey so we'll reserve judgement.

Our man Jimmy Kempski did some recon on the mysterious Mr. Mundy and came up with the same conclusion we did yesterday: is this this guy even going to make the roster...? From Jimmy....

Free agent safety Ryan Mundy, who has spent the last five seasons in Pittsburgh, is scheduled to visit the Giants tonight.

Mundy, 28, was a sixth-round selection of the Steelers in the 2008 draft out of West Virginia by way of Michigan. Mundy (6'1, 210), missed his rookie season of 2008 with a high ankle sprain and was signed to the practice squad, but has dressed for every game the past four seasons. He only has five career starts and 130 total tackles in his career.
