Larry Brooks writes that he doubts Ryan Spooner fits into the Rangers long-term plans and adds that Spooner is an RFA with arbitration rights and a free agent after next season. (NY Post)

Brooks writes that it may be "difficult" for the Rangers to move Spooner and that the organization will have to consider whether to sign Spooner to a one-year deal, so he can be used as a trade chip at the deadline, or non-tender him and allow him to be a free agent. (NY Post)

4/12/18 | Larry Brooks noted back in March that Kevin Hayes, Vlad Namestnikov and Ryan Spooner are all arbitration eligible RFAs closing in on being unrestricted free agents. (NY Post)

Hayes and Spooner can become UFA following this season while Namestnikov, along with Jimmy Vesey, can become UFA after the 19-20 season.  (NY Post)

Brooks says that it's "extremely unlikely" that the Rangers bring back all three of them though he does note that Namestnikov and Spooner have seen a lot of time on the wing. (NY Post)

Through two games with the Rangers, Ryan Spooner has five assists, 3 of them primary, including the OT winner in Vancouver on Wednesday.

Spooner had two assists in his Rangers debut on Sunday, a day he called "long" and Alain Vigneault said that his game against Detroit was a "good start."

After Wednesday's game, Spooner said that he is just trying to make the plays that are in front of him and that he feels there is a good mix with what he, Kevin Hayes and Jesper Fast all bring on the ice. (NYR)

Alain Vigneault says that Ryan Spooner is expected to be in the lineup for the Rangers tonight when they take on the Red Wings.

Spooner was just acquired from Boston this morning in the Rick Nash trade.

Vigneault said that in Spooner he sees a good skater, someone with good hands and soemone who is very good on the PP. (NYR)

He said that Spooner can play all three forward positions but is most comfortable on the wing, adding "everything I've heard has been real positive." (NYR)
