It appears the Giants' pursuit of Tim Hightower is ongoing. And now another team has entered the race.

Both the Redskins and the Giants have inquired about signing Hightower this off-season, according to the Washington Post.

The last team to employ the running back was Washington -- back during the 2012 pre-season -- while New York has been the primary team linked to him this off-season.

Former Cardinals and Redskins running back Tim Hightower is visiting with the Giants today, according to reports.

The free agent would only add depth to the Giants at the running back position, as the team can rest surely on the legs of sophomore David Wilson and his capable backup, Andre Brown.

Rounding out the depth chart is former Terp Da'Rel Scott and Ryan Torain. The Giants also added Michael Cox out of Massachusetts in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, then signed Jeremy Wright out of Louisville in the subsequent days.

A tradition like none other: the Giants turning heads with their draft class.

The Giants had seven picks in this weekend's draft, adding depth to a number of key positions, including offensive and defensive line, running back and the secondary. Of course, a position that remained untouched was linebacker.

Kevin Gilbride met the media Friday to discuss the offensive game plan ? mainly focusing on the rushing game ? heading into Monday night?s primetime contest with the division rival Washington Redskins.

The big news all week has been that rookie running back David Wilson will likely see more action in lieu of Andre Brown?s season-ending broken fibula. Gilbride said Wilson is working hard, and he?s encouraged with the rookie?s progress.

?I think he?s making fewer mistakes, and I think you see a little bit of it, an incremental growth,? Gilbride said. ?It?s never as fast as a coach would want, but it is definitely happening.?

I?m hoping that he?s not doing anything this weekend. Hopefully, he?s sick, he?s not playing very well. Ryan Torain is a great young man. He?s got excellent running ability. I was kind of really surprised that he was on the street as long as he was. I think the one thing he?s going to look for, is a guy that can make people miss, a guy that can carry the football and he?s a great kid.

As the Giants? motto has been all season, if someone gets hurt, the next guy steps up.

In Big Blue?s win over the Packers, running Andre Brown broke his fibula and will miss the remainder of the season.

First-round pick David Wilson will finally be given his second chance. He fumbled his second career carry and was relegated solely to kick return duties.
