The Devils have traded Sergey Kalinin to the Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Viktor Loov, the team announced Saturday. 

Kalinin had been placed on waivers Friday and cleared Saturday right before the trade.

Loov, a seventh-round pick in 2012, will head to the the Devils' AHL affiliate.

Kalinin, 25, has two goals and two assists in 43 games this season.

He had eight goals and seven assists in 78 games for the Devils last season.

Forward Sergey Kalinin has been activated off injured reserve and Miles Wood has been assigned to the AHL, the Devils announced Saturday. 

Kalinin had been on IR since Oct. 10 with an illness and had been nearing a return over the last few days. 

In 78 games with the Devils last year, Kalinin tallied eight goals and seven assists.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed C Sergey Kalinin to a one-year, $800,000, Devils general manager Ray Shero announced

Kalinin appeared in 78 games for the Devils in the 2015-16 season, ending the year with eight goals, including three power play goals, and seven assists. 

Kalinin also added three assists in 10 games for Russia at the 2016 IIHF World Championships, where his team won a Bronze Medal.

The Devils signed Kalinin on May 29, 2015 after five-plus seasons with Omsk (KHL).

The New Jersey Devils have tendered a qualifying offer to leading scorer Kyle Palmieri and four other restricted free agents.

Forwards Reid Boucher, Jacob JosefsonSergey Kalinin and minor league defenseman Reece Scarlett also received qualifying offers from the Devils before Monday's deadline.

The Devils are entitled to compensation should any of the players sign elsewhere.

Lee Stempniak scored late in the second period to snap a tie and the New Jersey Devils ended a three-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the short-handed New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

Kyle PalmieriSergey KalininAdam Larsson and Tyler Kennedy also scored, and rookie Joseph Blandisi assisted on the tying and go-ahead goals in the second period. Cory Schneider made 17 saves as New Jersey beat the Rangers for the third time in four games this season.

Kevin Hayes and Dominic Moore scored for the Rangers, who lost for only the third time in 10 games (7-2-1). Henrik Lundqvist was outstanding in making 31 saves.

The Rangers played without defensemen Ryan McDonagh and Marc Staal and forward Rick Nash. They also played the third period without J.T. Miller, who received a match penalty late in the second for fighting against Kalinin with his hand taped.

Casey Cizikas scored a lucky early goal, Jaroslav Halak had 27 saves and the New York Islanders opened a season-long, seven-game trip with a 1-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night.

Halak was outstanding and had a little help from the post while getting his third shutout. Reid Boucher's 1-on-1 chance in the first period hit iron, but Halak also made great saves in close against Sergey KalininKyle Palmieri and Lee Stempniak, the last one a pad save early in the third period when the Devils' forward had a seemingly open net.

The Islanders are in third place in the Metropolitan Division, four points ahead of the fifth-place Devils with two games in hand.

The New Jersey Devils have assigned F Sergey Kalinin to Albany and recalled D Marc-Andre Gragnani under emergency conditions (Devils, Jan. 26).

Gragnani, 28, has 15 assists in 28 games played in Albany this season. He has also appeared in four games with the Devils.

Kalinin, 24, has five goals and four assists in 46 games played this season with New Jersey.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Kyle Palmieri scored in overtime to give the New Jersey Devils a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.

Palmieri took a lead pass from Lee Stempniak and streaked into the Detroit zone ahead of defenseman Tomas Tatar, skated in on the goal and put a backhander past a sprawled out Jimmy Howard with 39.3 seconds remaining. It extending Palmeiri's goal-scoring streak to four games.

Damon Severson and Sergey Kalinin also scored for the Devils who rallied after trailing 2-0 in the third period. Cory Schneider finished with 27 saves.
