In the Ottawa Sun, Bruce Garrioch wonders how Shane Doan is feeling after Greg Jamison's attempt at buying the Phoenix Coyotes fell through earlier this week.

9:22PM: Sarah McLellan has quotes from Doan's interview where she says that Doan and the Coyotes have agreed to a new deal and they are just waiting for Greg Jamison to officially purchase the team.

7:57PM: Shane Doan went on the radio and according to PHT continued to say that he will sign a new contract by September 15th.

Doan also said that he is down to two or three teams but remains committed to staying in Phoenix if the ownership situation is worked out.

Scott Burnside of ESPN.com reports that Greg Jamison has secured the proper financing and is in position to purchase the Coyotes.

Burnside writes that the deal is nearing completion and ownership would move from the NHL to Jamison.

According to the Vancouver Province, via Rory, the Vancouver Canucks offer for Shane Doan will likely top out at $6.1 million per year as that is the number that the Sedin twins make and it is unlikely that Doan would get a higher cap hit than they have.

According to Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic, Shane Doan's agent Terry Bross says that Doan will sign a new contract, with Phoenix or somewhere else, before the CBA expires on September 15th.

Bross told McLellan, "(Ownership has to) be done before the 15th, otherwise we're signing somewhere because we don't know what the new CBA is going to look like, and I don't know if it's going to limit any scope of a contract, so we want to make sure we sign before then."

She writes once again that Doan is waiting to see what happens with the ownership situation in Phoenix

In the Arizona Republic, Sarah McLellan writes that the CBA is the latest that is holding up Shane Doan.

Don Maloney said "I don't foresee a lot happening around here right now."

On the ownership situation and Doan, Maloney told McLellan "It's still trending positively. We're still very optimistic about it. Once that happens, hopefully we can re-sign Shane to a deal that works for both of us."

The PHX Business Journal writes "Two sources with knowledge of the three-year-old Coyotes ownership saga say Jamison now has the investors and partners in place to finally buy the Coyotes and a deal could close very soon."

According to Josh Cooper in the Tenessean, Predators coach Barry Trotz revealed that Shane Doan has the Predators on his short list of teams.

Trotz says "To be quite honest I hope everything gets resolved in Phoenix and he retires as a Phoenix Coyote, but if it doesn?t, I know Nashville is on his short list.?

According to a tweet from David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News, the Sharks are no longer in the running for Shane Doan as he has made it clear he wants to sign a deal that is longer than three years.

The Sharks reportedly would only offer Doan three-years and $4.5 million per season.

In a poll asked over the weekend, 44.23% of readers said that their preference to sign Doan to a three-year deal is based upon the cap hit he would bring. 39.68% of readers said that they would sign him to a three-year deal and 16% said No.

According to Larry Brooks in the NY Post, Shane Doan is searching for a four-year deal and that the Rangers, along with Pittsburgh and Vancouver, are on his short list of teams he is willing to sign with.

In an interview with TSN, Shane Doan said the following about where he is right now as a free agent "I'm doing everything I can to stay there and that's kind of my goal. At the same time, I have to do some due diligence now in the fact that the longer it takes the the harder it seems to be to get a deal done in Phoenix."

Doan said "I am going to try and give Phoenix every chance that I can," and that he is looking for a long term deal.

The report says that the Sharks have flown under the radar in their pursuit of Doan and that Doan is looking for a four year deal worth $30 million.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, Greg Jamison still lacks the cash to not only buy the Coyotes but to also operate them.

Mike Sunnucks writes "Operating capital could be the newest obstacle facing the Jamison purchase and the Coyotes tenuous situation in Glendale. Essentially, the prospective Coyotes owner needs the money, financing or favorable sales terms so he can pay the bills, meet payroll and keep the lights on after a sale."

The report says "The Coyotes deal is on tenuous ice but could still happen, according to multiple sources familiar with the team's three-year ownership saga and uncertain future in the Phoenix market.

According to Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic, Shane Doan's camp hasn't heard from prospective Coyotes owner Greg Jamison recently and is planning to make a list of teams that he is interested in joining.

His agent says that Doan is just preparing for any option and that his first choice is to remain with the Coyotes, "When we get the news, whether it's good or bad, at least we'll be prepared. Otherwise we'll have to take a week to make a decision. If we find out it doesn't happen, then we're behind the 8-ball trying to go visit teams and make a decision."

Doan visited the Rangers and Flyers over the weekend while on the East coast for the NHLPA and NHL labor meetings.

In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers plan isn't to sign Shane Doan OR trade for Rick Nash, the plan is to try and acquire them both.

He writes that the Rangers are a favorable landing spot for Doan if he leaves Phoenix.

At Rangers Report, Carp writes about Shane Doan and how he thinks he could fit in with the Rangers.

He writes, "I think he would fit very, very nicely into the Rangers; into their identity, into their leadership group. He could play on their second line, no problem. He could theoretically play on their first line if they don?t make another major move."

As noted before, Doan played under Jim Schoenfeld (head coach) and John Tortorella (assistant coach) for two seasons in Phoenix.

Brooks notes that Benoit Allaire was the goalie coach in Phoenix from 1997 to 2004 and that Rangers assistant coach Mike Sullivan was a teammate of Doan's for four seasons.
