Meanwhile, as the Knicks work hard to recruit Crawford, they're leaving Shawne Williams to wait in limbo. Williams has been ready to sign since the weekend. He's been in New York, working out on his own, and holding off his own decision to accept offers from other teams because his desire has always been to re-sign with the Knicks.

Crawford will need to make a decision soon because the Knicks can't afford to wait too much longer or they could risk losing Williams, who found a niche as a versatile forward who could knock down the corner three and defend.I got the feeling that a Crawford trade was holding up Williams thinking that he'd be part of a sign a trade.

I went on an extensive Twitter reminder when I read this and Hahn is spot on here. We've talked about the significance of the corner 3 in the NBA at great length here. ?And, not to be dismissive, but the reason it's such a money shot is because no one really teaches it at the high school level or especially at the AAU level. ?Carolina excels in what we both call the "secondary break" or the offensive scheme that runs a ball reversal when they realize they won't get an easy score in on a fast break. The ball gets reversed and often times the corner opens up because the defense has to defend both posts and the basket first then branch out to the perimeter. That leads to a close out from a bigger/slower player or smaller guard.

At one point last season, whether it be in transition or in quick half court offense Shawne Williams was absolutely lethal from the corner. It was a 3-game stretch during the beginning of November. I remember talking to fellow press members that he was 10-12, while everyone was complaining that the Knicks couldn't stop Kevin Love. It was then that Williams began to receive major minutes.

Commissioner David Stern reportedly wants to reduce the players' cut of Basketball Related Income from 57% to 45%. The players want fewer restrictions on free agency as well as new guidelines for age requirements. And once all that is agreed upon, free agency can finally begin.

Maybe that's why Knicks forward Shawne Williams is so refreshing. The soon-to-be free agent outplayed his near-minimum salary this year; but he isn't making any grandiose demands. Williams is open to practically any deal that keeps him in New York.

"That's what I want to do," Williams told HOOPSWORLD after the Knicks were eliminated from the playoffs by the Celtics. "I just want to get familiar with one organization. I don't like the journey, hopping around.

Will this mean the Knicks go deeper down the bench? Or more minutes for Turiaf and Bill Walker? My guess is a little of both, with Mozgov getting the nod over Randolph. Just a feeling.

Timofey Mozgov is struggling.

Believe it or not, there's a good chance Landry Fields may go through a period of poor play too. Danilo Gallinari hasn't had a very consistent season to say the least. Plus Ronny Turiaf has been hurt and Toney Douglas hasn't been all that great either. All great signs. This team CAN, and needs to, be better.

"We can definitely get to another level," Felton said after producing 17 points and 13 assists. "We can get even better."
So why must we continue to hear about Eddy Curry?

The obvious answer is that the team is only 2 games over .500, one bad loss from all the questions starting again. But last night's win, and the team's overall performance on the road, really has me thinking that the team has turned a corner and is playing, not just to make the playoffs, but to beat who ever is in their paths.
