Now this is a case of who said what, and why 13-year veteran QB Eli Manning a) didn't know how many time outs the Cowboys had left and b) why he decided to throw the ball out of bounds, stopping the clock.
Are Giant fans in for a long season? From what we've seen so far, yes. The overall health of the team is worse than it was a year ago, and key players such as WR Victor Cruz, DE Jason Pierre-Paul, MLB Jon Beason and LT Will Beatty are either missing time or going to miss time.

So, is JPP ready to return for the Giants? He was out on the practice field Monday and seemed to be able to do everything, but keep in mind it was not a padded practice. The All-Pro DE said he was tired after putting in his first full day's work in three months.
"I feel great. I feel good, (but) we?re not there," JPP said Monday. "Ran off tired. I was completely tired. I wasn?t like I expected to be my first day out there, but I feel great."

The Giants have historically had letdowns in situations such as these in the past. Defensive captain Justin Tuck was asked why his team comes out flat in games against inferior opponents:
"I don?t know. I wish I knew an answer because you?re right. We?ve had a tendency to come out in a lull. I don?t know. I think we are kind of guarding against that this week. Coach brought up the fact that the last time we played Cleveland? what the stakes were and how that ended up, so I think guys are on alert for that, but I won?t be able to answer that question."The WheelHouse questions whether the Giants are in a trap game against the Browns.

It was anything but a setup. Dallas outhustled and outplayed the defending champs in front of the whole world last night. The game was a winnable one, but the the Giants didn't do much to help themselves in the 24-17 reality check at the hands of their most hated rivals.
"Very disappointing, very disappointing loss," said Tom Coughlin after the game. "Any way you want to look at it. We fumble the ball after a nice drive that possibly could have been points, we don?t score from the one-yard line. We give up big plays in the second half. We don?t really stop the run, they had all kinds of yardage, we had little or none. We gave ourselves a chance there at the end of the game, it just took way too much time for us to score. And then obviously 3rd and 11 or 12, whatever that was, we couldn?t stop it. We had trouble stopping the slant all night long like we?ve never seen a slant before. Very, very frustrating. It hurts to come in and be playing at home and playing a game of this nature opening the season to play the way we played, and we certainly are capable of playing a lot better."

"There were a lot of young guys out there and a lot of different things," said OT David Diehl ofter the game. "But I know our confidence is high. And we are real excited about a week from today to be playing at home against the Cowboys. We have a great week of work ahead of us. I like the intensity and energy of our guys. And I know we are moving forward and we will be prepared for this game."
GEICO SportsNite has reaction from Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning after the Giants defeated the Patriots on Wednesday.
But, with that game only eight days away and Canty yet to begin practicing, the Giants elected to place Canty on PUP, effectively wiping out the first half of his season.
"We sort of expected that to be the case," Tom Coughlin said of the decision. "We dealt with the thought of how fast he ought to come back, and it?s better for the player and team as well that he has this extra time?"

On the line, Chris Canty was placed on PUP so he's out until Week 7. Marvin Austin's back and the blood clot in Shaun Rogers' leg is still being monitored. Both could be headed to IR. Yesterday, their top four DEs (Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, Jason Pierre-Paul and Adrian Tracy) missed practice with various ailments.
Michael Boley, arguably the team's best LB, has practiced sparingly this summer due to a severe hamstring strain. He is not expected to be ready for the season opener. Mathias Kiwanuka, who plays across the field from Boley, is dealing with a groin issue. He also sat out practice yesterday.
But, as usual, there's always a price to pay for good fortune. Amukamara broke a bone in his foot during his very first practice as a Giant and missed half the season. By the time he was activated, he was so far behind the in the learning curve, he was only used in certain packages.
This year, the team has raised the ante for Prince. His slow development has led to teasing and hazing from teammates and to top things off, ?he is dealing with a new injury that threatens the start of another season ?Still, he remains positive:

Will today be the last Albany sees of the Giants? Both CEO John Mara and head coach Tom Coughlin are proponents of getting the team away for camp and each has complimented UAlbany for their support and hospitality. But UAlbany does not have an indoor facility for the Giants to train in inclement weather, and with the growing number of teams opting to stay home for training camp, the Giants may just have to scrap the trip for logistical purposes.
Yesterday's practice had a few absences due to injury, but LB Michael Boley's hamstring is one that is beginning to wear on Coughlin:

"I don't want ESPN camped out here and us doing interviews here, doing all that stuff," Eli Manning told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. "(Quiet) is the way we like it. There's good attention and bad attention. Right now, training camp is about football, getting away from all the distractions and worrying about your team coming together and playing at a high level."
But is there a tad of jealousy running throughout the Giants? Should there be? The ESPN coverage of the NY market by ESPN has been so lopsided, they jettisoned a camera crew to Albany yesterday in an attempt to even things out.
