Former Yankees radio voice Hank Greenwald passed away at the age of 83.
Greenwald called Yankees games with Tommy Hutton for WABC radio during the 1987 and 1988 seasons, preceding current Yankees play-by-play radio announcer, John Sterling.
Greenwald spent most of his career as the play-by-play man for the San Francisco Giants from 1979-86 and 1989-96.
The Giants said in a statement that he died on Monday of heart and kidney complications.
He also called games for the University of San Francisco basketball, Syracuse football, Triple-A baseball in Hawaii and the Golden State Warriors.
He is survived by his wife, Carla, of 48 years and his children, Kellie and Doug.
